Biography

Golf entered my life at age 11, caddying for my dad who at the time was also a beginner.  Golf quickly took over from my promising football career in the under 11 little league, where I was sure I would continue to go on to play for Manchester United!

Each moment of daylight produced an opportunity for me to pursue my dream of one day being a professional golfer, whether it be teeing off at 5.30am to get 9 holes in before school, or practicing chipping in the garden under the lights from the living room, if there was light there would be golf.

By the age of 15 my handicap was scratch and I was a member of both the Men’s County team and the England Boys Team.

1999 became a pivotal year in my golfing life as this was the year, aged 16 that I qualified for the ‘Open Championship’ at Carnoustie. In my eyes it was another step forward and shooting 3 decent round rounds in qualifying (I was more stoked about getting my handicap down).

However, to the golfing media and national media, it was a massive deal, which led into a manic week of being given new clubs. I was actually borrowing my Dads irons, a driver that rattled because I had cut it down, a 3 wood that had a regular whippy shaft that I had borrowed from a friend, a putter that I had swapped with one of the county juniors and a wedges that I had won in a junior open the weekend previous. Suddenly, I was signing autographs and meeting golfing greats like Tiger Woods, Payne Stewart and Gary Player, while ‘we’ warmed up for the tournament.

Fast forward to the latter stages of my amateur career and I had won some prestigious trophies and national titles, along with the Spanish Amateur and Portuguese Amateur ‘back to back’ and had represented England, and GB&I, at both boys and men’s level.

Around the time of turning Professional I had a car crash, which damaged vertebrae in my neck and spine. An issue that I thought would take weeks to fix actually took 4 years to fix properly.  I did play some golf in that time, but in pain, and having to endure forced breaks of 3-4 moths at a time.

In 2007, with no category or exemption on the Tour, I was able to find treatment that allowed me to play golf  freely and with relative ease. I pre qualified for the French Open and got myself into contention, and put in a good week which helped get invitations in to events the following weeks.

Each week I had an invite, I put in a good performance, and on my 6th start on the European Tour that year I finished T4th at the British Masters and had earned enough in those 6 starts get a tour card for the following season. It was nice to playing golf the way I thought I should/could be playing.

Roll on 2008, and after a slightly slow start another injury set back (fractured right wrist) forced me to have a year off. After after a year out of competitive golf the game was not where it needed to be to compete with the guys at that incredibly high level upon my return.

2010 was a real momentum year, qualifying for the Open Championship at St Andrews, followed quite closely by my first professional win on the Euro Pro Tour.

2011 saw the start of the MENA Golf tour by GOLF IN DUBAi and my 2nd win as a professional. Over the last 5 years I have had much success on the MENA Golf Tour, and have now won 11 times on this tour alone, earning exemptions into a fair few European Tour events, and onto the Sunshine Tour.

Golf is my life, and I have seen the good and the bad of golf and professional golf, working on the right things, working on the wrong things, getting good advice, and getting bad advice from people I thought were authorities within golf.

I can honestly say I still love the game as much today as when I first started. It is out of this love for the game and that I have now, alongside my playing career, started up an academy to be able to share experiences and knowledge that I have built up over the years to help other golfers improve, and possibly skip the pitfalls that I have had to encounter, fast tracking them to top class golf!
